Recommended web sites:
Here are a list of web sites that I think you may want to use.
RegCleaner – The best toolbox a computer can have. It removes errors and junk files from the computers registry. When you download this it is as simple as doing two things: set the options-->registry cleanup-->ole cleaner-->extra powerful, then select tools-->registry cleanup-->do them all. When it completes select-->select all-->remove selected from the bottom right of the screen. Then click done, use this whenever the computer seems sluggish or non responsive. This program can be downloaded from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html
Google has a free toolbar that has a Pop-Up blocker and an auto fill feather (Once you fill it in you can fill in a form with one click, so when you have to type in your name and address, you use this feather.) It also adds a Google search bar to Internet Explorer so you can search from there instead of having to open a Google web page. You can download it for free from http://toolbar.google.com
Everest (Formally known as AIDA32) will tell you more information about your computer than you ever knew was possible. It can tell you the temperatures of your CPU, Hard drives and Motherboard, it can also give you a list of the CD Keys for Windows. Its a free download from: http://www.lavalys.com/index.php?page=product&view=1&subpage=5
If you work on computers here is a very handy CD/tool you will want. Its a bootable CD with all kinds of tools on it. Things like hard drive diagnostic from most manufactures, there are different memory testers, and a lot more tools. You down load the ISO (Image of the CD) and burn the CD from an image. the download is under 101MB you can also download a zip file 52.4MB or a Self-extracting EXE 44.7MB all from: http://www.UltimateBootCD.com If you don't have a CDRW you can buy a CD from that same web site.

We recommend you run some weekly maintenance on your computer.
Make sure your Anti-Virus is up-to-date and run a full scan at least once a week. You may need to run Live-Up-Date in your Anti-Virus program. Open you’re A-V program and click on Live-up-date when you’re online. (I recommend NOD32, this Anti-Virus works in the background and checks for updates every hour. If you’re not connected to the internet all of the time it checks for updates as soon as you do connect. I sell NOD32 at http://AlaskaJoe.com/NOD32)
You should run all Windows Up-Dates, Click Start, all programs and up on top of the list of programs is Windows Up-date, you must be online. This updates things like your sound drivers, Video drivers, Network card drivers Etc..
Then run Disk Cleanup: Click Start, (WindowsXP, All Programs) Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup This will empty your Temporary files, Temporary Internet files, the recycle bin and a few other files.
Then run Ad-Aware to remove any SpyWare you may have picked up. (We all pick up SpyWare, and it's NOT a good thing to leave on your computer.) Make sure you click on "Check for updates now" before you run Ad-Aware. You can download Ad-Aware for free from http://www.lavasoftusa.com.
Then run SpyBot Search and destroy it is another spyware removal tool. You need to run both in order to remove all of the spyware out there these days. You can download SpyBot for free from: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download.asp?fid=22262&fileidx=1 (I’m sorry for the long web address) you can also google (search) for SpyBot. Make sure you update it before you run it. (You must be online to update it.)
Run RegCleaner, select tools-->registry cleanup-->do them all. When it completes select-->select all-->remove selected from the bottom right of the screen. Then click done, use this whenever the computer seems sluggish or non responsive.
If you need any help with the recommend weekly maintenance or anything else you can join us in #ICUG (Independent Computer Users Group) on the chat server and someone can help you. To set up the chat go to mIRC above.

Finally run Disk Defragmenter, Start, (WindowsXP, All programs) Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter
